About Me
I'm an artist and illustrator currently living in Leeds. Having initially studied Human Anatomy, I went on to do a post-grad degree in Medical Art. Since then I've worked on a number of projects ranging from children's books through to logo design, as well as my own artwork. My personal artwork is predominantly figurative, with a particular interest in portraiture. I feel that a true portrait isn't a simple likeness of a person (although a likeness should be a given) but should also reveal and emphasise the intangibles of a person. Consequently, I look to scrutinise my subjects closely to find these nuances and produce detailed, well observed artwork. I work in a variety of media, including oils, pencil and pen. My commerical work has covered a variety of different projects. I am currently Head of Design at Freudian Scripts Publishing House and a regular illustrator for Chippy Chat Magazine. Whilst portraiture is a speciality, I'm happy working in several styles and am always interested in challenging or unusual projects.
