The Sphere of Archimedes
This is an example of my academic writing. It is a paper on determinism and free will in the writings of Spinoza and Leibniz. My attempt was to allow for a limited free will by limiting the criteria of qualities that the omnimax creator can have. While reading, the audience should note that these views do not necessarily reflect my personal views on deities or lack thereof.
About Me
I graduated last year with a B.A. in philosophy. Philosophy students are notorious for their exceptional writing skills. They consistently achieve the highest verbal and written scores for the humanities on the GRE, the LSAT, and the GMAT. Philosophy majors also scored 15% higher on the GMAT than business majors. For other interesting facts on the strengths of philosophy majors, see this website: [login to view URL] As a philosophy student, I learned to evaluate information and construct arguments. This makes me an excellent candidate for learning almost any system that involves values and to construct meaningful text in response. This skill is not only useful in technical writing and argumentation, but also in marketing and sales. For example, I can evaluate the intended benefits of buying a product and write a persuasive account of its virtues to market to potential buyers. This works for resumes, business proposals, advice columns, and market-driven journalism. I am strong at identifying and constructing not only arguments, but reports, explanations, and prose. In the field of writing, it is very important to understand the difference between these styles of writing and be able to execute them appropriately within the context of the assignment. I minored in creative writing, which gave me the opportunity to hone and exercise my personal writing style. I have a strong textual voice that is both concise and eloquent. I go to great lengths to make sure my style is comprehensible and presentable-- meaning I am dressed to impress, but not intimidatingly so. Your audience deserves text that demands their attention legitimately, helping them to feel at ease while keeping their interest long enough to provide essential information. On a last note, I am personally interested in learning the field of technical writing. I am not very experienced, but, as mentioned above, I can easily learn systems and use them accurately. I am familiar with SL, PL, PD, and PD+ logical systems and am experienced in coding and decoding information for entertainment. I enjoy puzzles, riddles, breaking codes, and finding patterns-- especially with words.
