Glossary of terms
When preparing for an assignment, an interpreter needs to look up terminology that is specific to the nature of the interview. The glossary contains lists of unfamiliar terms that may cause difficulties for the interpreter and its main use is to facilitate the translation of such terms. With the help of a glossary, the interpreter can save time that would otherwise be spent on research and understanding of unknown words. The glossary is also helpful when the nature of the interview is unknown prior to the actual start of the assignment as it allows the interpreter to go through a list of possible terms that could be mentioned within a specific service. The usefulness of a glossary is also defined by the fact that it is easy to transport, update and look through.
