I have been working as an in-house translator for British Non-Governmental Organisation operating in Rwanda [details available upon request]from February 2005 to present and I have been dealing with a large number of translations from and into English and French (as well as Kinyarwanda, my mother tongue). My activities have included: translating all sorts of texts ranging from programme documents, reports, legal texts such as work contracts, policy documents, training manuals. In addition to my in-house translation work, I have translated several documents, as a freelance translator, from and into English, Kinyarwanda, and French for international as well as local organisations such as GTZ-Santé, PNILT, CNLS, Business Council for Peace (Bpeace), UNECA, TransPerfect Translations, Bilingual Solution Genius Company, LON International Translation Services, etc. Concerning technical skills, I have good knowledge in translation and terminology management: I use CAT (Computer Assisted Translation) tools and software namely: For Text Processing: Microsoft Office Package (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), Adobe and Internet. For Translation, Linguistic analysis & Terminology Management: I use: WordFast & +Tools, WordFisher, ConcappV4 Concordancer and Word Profiler, Antconc3.2.1w. I also learnt (and can use Trados-Translator's Workbench). What is more, I am a hardworking person and a quick learner as can be testified by most people I have worked with. For instance here is what Dr. Anne-Marie Brinsmead of the University of Toronto () had to say as a feedback to my final work for my certificate in 'Professional Translation – French': "Dear Adolphe, You have achieved grammatically and syntactically accurate translation mastery with your final assignment and final project in this course. Your attention to nuance and subtlety of meaning and expression as you preserve the original message and substance of the source translation in your target translation is to be commended and continued throughout your endeavours as a professional translator. Besides, as far as French language is concerned, I must say that I have near native competence in the language as French has been my main instruction language from primary school to university.
