Solar House Team Automation System

Designed, managed the team and coded the home automation system to be used in the 2013 Department of Energy Solar Decathlon by the Missouri University of Science & Technology Solar House Team. The backbone is a light linux web server running on a low power micro computer, the server provides a HTML5/CSS3/JavaScript user interface for any WiFi enabled device to access. The server also has Python running for all calculations, functionality and communication with the wireless modules within the house as well as to interface with the SQLite database running on the server. Some of the control systems within the house are: Radiant flooring for heating Radiant Cooling panels in the roof Motorized clerestory windows Motorized shades Lighting controls Audio controls (speakers and audio-in jacks) Worked with 7 other sub teams within the Solar House Team as well as working with the campus to raise the $500k to build the house and ship it to the competition.

I am employed full time through a contracting company to Maritz as a frontend web developer using AngularJS, HTML 5, LESS (CSS 3), JavaScript 6, and Jasmine/Karma for unit testing.
