Hi, I have already built Tally Prime customisations for a large client. One project was for KSBCL, the Karnataka State Beverages Corporation. I worked on financial reports and Tally-based business workflows. I also worked on a TDL project for Excel-based Tally imports. The work included TDL files and a C# helper DLL for Excel processing. We tested the import using real company data and fixed edge cases. Your report work is therefore not new territory for me. I would first understand your existing ledgers and report formats. Then I would build the reports around the data already in Tally. For invoices, I would keep calculations inside Tally itself. GST, discounts and rounding should remain easy to verify.
