But honestly, the danger with this manuscript isn't a proofreader who doesn't know Patois — it's one who does the opposite and "fixes" it into standard English, flattening your voice. I'd never touch it. What I can do is proofread everything around it and, for the Patois, flag only consistency (same word spelled two ways, a dropped apostrophe pattern) as a query for you to confirm, never a change. If a native Patois check is essential to you, I'd say so and step aside — but if the English needs a sharp, careful pass and the Patois left in your hands, that I can do well. On the rest: grammar, punctuation, tense and POV consistency, dialogue punctuation, and flow — plus the romance-specific stuff, like keeping the emotional beats clean and not letting a typo break a tense scene.
