Wordpress Image Uploads broken

Hi there,
Our wordpress site's content/image upload service is broken at the moment. Existing files appear in there and existing images, however uploading a new image results in it being successful but with no image attached in the media browser.
We need someone to look over our worpress site for us and fix up this issue so we can continue to upload files to media browser in wordpress.
We think this might be a permissions issue or a PHP issues? We're unsure but need it sorted ASAP.
Successful resolution of this will result in on-going wordpress jobs and other tasks if you require.
