Scope of requirement for an ASP.NET Ordering Portal.
We require development of a basic web style ordering portal to be hosted on a web server on premises within our network. We can provide the web server and firewall configuration to allow access from the internet. The database back end is SQL 2008 R2. We are able to provide an IIS server for the pages to run on. Due to our Windows infrastructure we have a preference for the development to be in ASP.NET and HTML5 but would be happy to discuss alternatives.
On entering the site we require a secure login page with username and password. At the first phase of development we are happy to manage the username and password table manually.
Once the user has logged in they would be able to perform the following functions, check stock; list outstanding orders or place a new order request. These could be separate pages via a menu option or all functionality could be located on one page if it looks ok.
Checking stock would require the user to enter a partial part number or description to display a list of results in a table. We can provide the connection string and any SQL select statements for the table results of approximately 6 columns. These SQL statements should be taken from a configuration table so we can change the WHERE criteria query if needed, the select columns (and therefore the resulting dataset) would stay the same.
Outstanding orders would show the results of an SQL select statement provided by us in a table.
Placing a new order request would require the user to select items from a list generated by an SQL statement again provided by us and held in a table (the stock availability table could be used if located on the same page). When ready to select an item the user should be able to add it to a separate order request list where the quantity can be amended. A total order value may need to be shown on this screen updated as items are being added to the list. Once the list is completed the data needs to be collected in a table and submitted to an email address in a format to be decided but it could be CSV or an HTML table directly embedded in the body of the email. We will also require a conformation email to be sent to an email address held in the table against the logged in user. The email will be delivered via our local SMTP server, details of which will be provided.
Email server configuration should also be taken from a table which we would be happy to manage directly if any changes are needed.
