Graphic enhancement for existing CSS site

I have a dynamic site that is using quite complex CSS positioning . The site basically has two layouts -- a front page with 4 columns, header and footer -- and an "inside page" with 3 columns, header and footer. 100% css and divs, no tables.

Currently it is all shades of grey and default fonts.

I need some graphic redesign to make it more interesting to look at.

I expect most or all of the changes to be done via CSS and not by changing the html. e.g. you can change fonts, colors, background images etc as much as you want. But any html changes would need to be discussed and be minimal. Changes to padding and margins may or may not break the 4 column design and so not work.

Your design must be FLUID (as is the current one) and work at 800x600 or higher

Your design must render attractively(but not necessarily identically) in IE 6 and Firefox 1.0/1.5.

All headings, buttons, links etc are generated dynamically so you can't use graphics for them

Fonts in used should be common ones that will be available on most computers (e.g. on the ampsoft common font list)

The look should be light, sophisticated, mature, literate, cultured. A small use of purple be good as this is a Gay culture themed site. No recognizable people should be included in the images.

You should deliver to me the CSS file, any image files called by the css, and any photoshop original used to make the images.
