Build a website

I will need a six to seven pages website for my counselling business. I will also need an account with an online booking system such as Timely or Simple Clinic. Pages: Home | About Michèle | Counselling | Testimonials | Book Online | Blog | Contact Me Optional: putting my phone number in the top-most area of the site, especially for mobile users. It is important too, that wherever my phone number appears, it should be clickable so people can call me directly. Optional too: a footer area that is common to all pages with: My contact details (it is good to repeat these even though I have a “contact me” page Links to associations Maybe links to my three most recent blog items It is very important that every part of the website is optimised for search engines. All of my images need to be named something that search engines will pick up. A photo of me should be called Michè[login to view URL] for example, and it needs to be given an Alt tag that is similar. Images must be properly compressed to make them download quickly - all of this throughout the website. The site needs to be built in such a way that it is as fast as possible. No sliding banners and no videos as they slow the site down. If you are building the site in WordPress, use the theme called Generate Press. It has a very small download so it’s very fast. Speed is especially important in good search results. Google and other search engines will constantly compare the speed of my website with those of my competition and 'reward' the fast websites over the slow ones. Every page and blog post must have a keyword or key phrase that I hope people are searching for (eg. depression). This must then appear in: the web address of my site www.counselling-with-miché[login to view URL] image name – [login to view URL] image alt tag – fighting depression It must also appear in the heading of the page and in the introduction paragraph, then a couple of times elsewhere in my text. This all helps people finding me when using search engines. Also need to choose a web address (URL) (for myself) that describes what I do. I’d suggest having the word counselling in my name. This gives me a head start over someone who does not. I recommend buying my domain name from [login to view URL] The cost is roughly $50/year. I am still thinking about the name. I strongly recommend FlyWheel as web server for this. They are fast (good for SEO) and they help maintain my website by automating updates etc. It is also vital that my host is secure. I don’t know of a host with better security than FlyWheel. They start at about $13 USD per month. If anyone charges more you should look elsewhere as they are adding a margin. There are some bad (slow) web hosts out there. Be careful not to go with one that does not have a great reputation. I obviously will supply all content – writing and images. To get a blog started I will provide at least three blog items ready to go (text and images). Keep in mind that all of my blog posts can and should sit in a hierarchy of categories. I will choose these categories carefully as these too are search terms that Google scans my site for. Last but not least, it is very very important that my web site is connected to google search console and that I have access to this. Establishing this connection tells Google that I am serious about achieving good search results and once again, improves my visibility online. Many designers and even larger agencies leave this bit out.
