SEO Google ranking improvement

When I launched the site [login to view URL] with a temporary html page about 2 weeks ago, it appeared in Google after only 1 day with great rankings for my keywords.
Then I converted the site to Joomla(Mambo) and it has been dropping every day to the point where I am not even sure it is in the search engines. If I google site:[login to view URL], it doesn't even show the description tag.
I have SEF enabled in the backend and purchased a SEO-friendly module so that the URLs have the kewords.
My realistic goal is to place in the top 10 for "trader joes products" and "trader joes recipes" with my dream placing in the top ten for "trader joes"
I have a google sitemap that has been accepted, although I cannot get the verification file to be verified (been trying for 10 days.)
I am looking for some expert ideas (I can implement the solutions myself.) If I get in the top 10 for "trader joes" as a result, I am more than happy to pay a sweet bonus over the project bid.
