Hi, a filtration P&ID is only as good as the process understanding behind it, because the instrumentation logic, where the pressure indicators sit, how the backwash valves sequence, what interlocks protect the membranes or media beds, comes from knowing how the treatment process actually behaves, not just from placing symbols. I hold a chemical engineering degree and have published work on process engineering, so P&IDs are native territory for me, including ISA symbology and standard tagging conventions. Quick question, is this filtration stage media based, membrane, or cartridge, and do you have a process flow diagram to work from or am I developing the diagram from the system description? Hello, A filtration system P&ID working from minimal input still needs the instrumentation loops defined precisely, since differential pressure transmitters across filter beds, flow control on backwash cycles, and level instrumentation on clearwell tanks all interact through interlocks that have to be shown correctly or the diagram becomes misleading to whoever builds or operates from it later. I have developed P&IDs for water treatment filtration systems before, where getting the instrumentation and control loop logic right mattered more than the piping layout itself for a diagram that's actually usable in the field. I develop the P&ID in AutoCAD Plant 3D or a comparable tool, working from whatever process information you can provide and applying standard filtration process logic, media filters, backwash sequencing, differential pressure monitoring, chemical dosing points, where details aren't fully specified, flagging assumptions clearly for your review. I follow ISA standards for symbol and tag notation so the diagram reads correctly to any engineer or operator referencing it, and deliver a detailed, accurate drawing ready for engineering review.
