Hi guys. Here is what I need done. I have an Access database that consits of two things: people (name, e-mail, phone number, etc) and events (what kind of an event, date it took place, why it was created, where it was hosted, etc). What I would like to do is to have a nice looking form to update this database, so when new users join, I'd like to have a form, where I can select from a drop down "Why did this person join?" and fields for name, phone, e-mail, etc. I'd also like to be able to edit one of the records (people's information)..so if someone changes their phone number, I'd like to easily be able to search for that person and update the information on the fly.
Database for the events is the same way. I'd like a nice looking form where I can create a new event (or update old event) and have a section where I can type some notes in that will get stored (for example, why I'm hosting this particular event).
It would be nice to be able to connect the two databases, so that I can see which person attended which event, etc. People get points for coming to each event, so somewhere on the form (when creating an event), it should ask for the point value to be typed in...just so that I can keep track of how many points should be awarded for each event.
I'm not sure what platform makes the most sense to do all of this in, MS Access or [url removed, login to view] MS Access will be very easy to do, I think.
---I am working on barcode scanning attendence system. Each person has a unique identifier and when I scan their card, my VB code (currently in Excel), runs down the list of people in the spreadsheet, and marks them as "attended" (once I scan their card that contains the barcode). I would ultimately like to combine all of these features into one single program. I can do all of these mentioned things in Excel fairly easily, but it just dosen't look as good and user friendly. This is just an FYI, so I'd like for you to think about for a second what it is that I am trying to do/accomplish here before you bid. Also, I am very familiar with Access/Excel/VB, so please bid accordingly as I know how much work will be spent doing this, thus how much I am willing to spend on it.
