An artist in the areas of film, sound, and editing is needed to create a 20 second video commercial (web use only) for a musical instrument product. One or two examples of past work will need to be seen before the job is assigned to you. You do not need to be a super-star film maker already; just know how to frame attractive shots, use some lighting as needed, edit film, edit audio, add some attractive text and be prepared to deliver a complete product in a timely manner. The artist should have access to a digital video camera capable of capturing 4k images, audio with the very least compression you can find and at least a shotgun mic with wind suppressor; these standards will be expected in the final cut. Access to drone video, steady-cam and/or ultra-wide angle lenses (as well as any other device you would like) would enrich your work. The video’s cut will be very fast-paced and any moving camera shots should also be fast-paced.
It is desired that the artist film at least several dozen individuals (on-the-spot volunteers for random interaction, your friends, et cetera) of all ages, races and genders (all novices; anyone can play it) playing the instrument in a large variety of locations, both indoors and outside. All locations should be fun and visually appealing. The artist should be located in a sunny, coastal area (or desert region) for the outside shoots. It’s necessary for any individual appearing in the video to sign a waver releasing their personal image for unlimited commercial use, appearing under any circumstances that demand the video be viewed. These wavers will be collected along with the final cut. However, making that a bit more simple, the focus in nearly every shot will be on the hands and the instrument, not the player’s face. Focus should be on the instrument, aside from one or two wide-angle shots of the subject playing. A large amount of shooting should be done from which the 20 second, fast-cut commercial will be derived.
A sample product will be shipped to the artist, which he or she may retain permanently after use in the video. Specifics about the product, slogans and other parts of the marketing message will be shared when the job is assigned. The finished video is needed before the end of August and preferably earlier.
