The tricky part on jobs like this is getting the stormwater management plan to actually work with the council standards, so I’ll build that first. I’ll use AutoCAD for the drainage plan showing pipe sizes and slopes, and also the overland flow paths. For the onsite detention, I’ll model the storage volume needed using HEC-RAS to verify it meets the 1 in 100 year ARI requirement and the local council’s yield criteria. I’ll also incorporate water sensitive urban design elements like swales to manage the runoff before it hits the detention system.
