The scope of this project will range over transcribing the scans of post card sized documents handwritten in English to a Word format and classifying them into an Excel Sheet where details viz. Date, Source, Writer and Recipient of the letter will be entered. There are about 600 odd such documents and number of words in each document is between 80-120.
I require the services of transcription agents ideally located in India (Bangalore, New Delhi, Bombay, etc). They should be fluent in English and be able to type quite fast. It should take no longer than 15 minutes to transcribe a single postcard document. I estimate that the transcription should be complete in about 100 hours. The content is material taken of historical documents and so no specialized knowledge is needed.
You will obviously require a PC, preferably 2 of them where you can see the scanned document on one and type matter onto the 2nd screen.
I am happy to give more work to you as there are over 50 more such sets if you produce quality transcription in full. Minor spelling mistakes are acceptable. Please make sure I can read and comprehend your transcription however!
Before delivering the files, I require you to accept to the following condition:
1. You must use the scanned documents only for the purpose of transcribing, and must not use the transcription files for any other purpose.
Please send me a PM confirming you agree to the above condition. Once I receive your acceptance, I will provide instructions to download the scanned files and to upload the completed transcriptions. You can type up the text in Microsoft Word and MS Excel. Please use a new file for each scanned file.
