Small but growing U.S.-based general transcription service looking for a few more experienced transcriptionists. Please DO NOT apply if you do meet the following requirements:
--3-5+ years of experience as a general transcriptionist
--Word 2010 or higher
--On average, you can transcribe 1 audio hour in 4-5 hours or less
--On average, you can transcribe 30 minutes in 2-3 hours or less
--You have and regularly use Start-Stop, Express Scribe Pro, or FTR (ability to take video preferred)
--Ability to turn around 30 minutes same day for our rush work by 7pm Pacific , regardless of your time zone, but those in the Pacific or Mountain time zones are preferred .
--Ability to turn around 60+ minutes for our 24-48-72-hour turnarounds
--Accuracy, speed, attention to style notes and updates
--You work at home and regularly check email and have Skype and/or Gmail chat
--You must have a PayPal account
--You understand in the transcription business workflow can be quite irregular at times - this job is designed to be an extra source of income
--One or more conversion software tools (an added bonus, but not required)
--Recording software, such as SoundTap (an added bonus, but not required)
--Audio editing or enhancement tools, such as Audacity (an added bonus, but not required)
--You may expect a 1099 at the end of the year
--100% confidentiality with all our transcripts
You may expect hearings, interviews, conference calls, lectures, sermons, seminars, etc. We do not do legal or medical work.
Please include a brief description about your experience in transcription, but please do not submit resumes.
Please review the four Word documents in the TEST MATERIALS folder and transcribe the FIRST 30 MINUTES of the audio file. This is an average quality interview that will allow me to determine how accurate you can be on less than perfect audio. The test is not paid. Submit your test transcript to the email address provided in the test materials.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES do we hire non-native English speakers or outsource to foreign countries. You must be a U.S. resident with English as your native language. We do not hire Americans based in foreign countries due to the time difference. I cannot ask if you can work when you are sleeping and I need a relatively quick response, and the time difference does not work well for our same-day and overnight work meeting U.S. client turnarounds.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES do we allow typists to use speech-to-text software because of its known failures to accurately capture the complexities and nuances of speech or punctuate appropriately.
