I wish to retrain as a software tester. I have fifteen years experience of programming but have been out of the software industry for the last 5 years. I am looking for someone to mentor me in gaining practical experience. They must have formal qualifications in software testing and be able to deliver quality mentoring. The mentoring would be in the form of guidance via email, showing me which are the best free training materials, sample projects to test (I think there are some out there on the web but don't know where) and which are the most marketable free/cheap testing tools to get to know. Also telling me which are the best books to read and videos to watch. Also later on in the project helping me with any questions to do with script languages and test tools. Finally giving me advice on typical interview questions and tips on how to do well in a software testing job in the first few months. I am going to keep a diary of my progress and intend to write an ebook on the whole process. The mentor would share 50% in any royalties of the ebook if they agreed for their research and materials to be included in it. The mentor is likely to have ISEB certification and must have experience as a tester who has worked to quality standards. The budget is one hour per week from now until I get a software testing job.
