In groups of 4 you are to design and create engineering drawing for the essential component of a Go Kart. The wire frame of the kart frame will be provided and you are to use this un-modified in your design.
The project should be split into 4 major design areas
- Steering sub-assembly
o Stub axles, steering column, steering mechanism and tie rods
- Brake sub-assembly
o Brake rotor, brake calliper, brake piston, linkages and brake pedal
- Engine sub-assembly
o Engine mounts, front sprocket, rear sprocket, chain tension adjuster
- Rear axle sub-assembly
o Rear axle, rear bearing mounts, brake rotor mount, rear sprocket mount
Each group member is to carry out the design of ONE of these sub-assemblies and should present a part assembly, an exploded view of the assembly and ONE fully dimensioned part from the assembly to Australian Drawing Standards.
The group is to bring the fours sub assemblies together to create a completed Go Kart displaying the assembly and an exploded view.
To accompany the CAD drawings each student it to provide concept sketches, preliminary sketches and a brief report outlining the choices you made and the design rationale behind them.
All parts should have appropriate tolerances. This particularly applies to bearing and shafts
