I have a sizeable MTPE batch of technical and General documents that must be rendered accurately into Faroese The source files are supplied in editable formats (mostly Word and a few PDFs), totalling several tens of thousands of words, so I’m looking to build a smooth, long-term collaboration rather than a one-off hand-off. The work calls for someone who is fluent in both languages and comfortable with terminology typical of technical manuals—think component specifications, step-by-step procedures, and safety notes. Consistency matters: if you already work with a CAT tool such as Trados, MemoQ, or Wordfast, please let me know, as I will provide a termbase and style sheet to keep everything aligned across chapters. Your deliverable for each batch is: • A clean, publication-ready Faroese version that mirrors the original layout. • A bilingual review file (track-changes Word or exported XLIFF) so my internal engineer can perform spot checks. Turnaround is flexible as long as we agree on milestones and you can keep a predictable pace. Accuracy and confidentiality are paramount, so I will ask you to sign an NDA before sending the first files. I'm not a Faroese speaker, so I'm not applying to be your linguist - if that's all you need, ignore this. But I read the evaluation pack you attached, and something in it is worth telling you. Sentence 9 renders "if it rains" as "um tað riggar"; sentence 19 renders the same phrase as "um tað regnar". Sentence 12 gives "mobile app" as "fartelefon-forrit", sentence 20 gives "farsrímaforrit". Sentence 22 contains "menningærligar", which as far as I can tell isn't a word - the English source on line 23 predicted the model might invent one, and it did. I found those without reading Faroese. They're consistency defects, and consistency is checkable mechanically. Across tens of thousands of words your linguist cannot catch that chapter 3 and chapter 11 translated the same term differently. I build the check that does: every source segment that produced more than one target, every term that departs from your termbase, every token absent from a Faroese corpus, every segment whose length ratio says content was dropped or added, plus numbers, times and proper nouns verified against source. Your linguist then spends their time on judgment instead of on spotting that "mobile app" was rendered two ways. Your engineer gets a report rather than a spot check. I'd start by running it over the pack you already have, unpaid, so you can see what it catches before deciding anything.
