My CentOS 7 server refuses to finish booting. The hardware POSTs cleanly and GRUB shows up, but the moment the CentOS loading screen appears the system freezes—no keyboard response, no scrolling error text, nothing. I selected the “Boot failure” option because the machine never reaches multi-user mode; it just hangs during the loading screen. I need a seasoned CentOS/RHEL troubleshooter to bring the box back to life without touching the data on its disks. You should be comfortable working from IPMI/KVM or guiding me through a rescue ISO, rebuilding initramfs, reinstalling or reconfiguring GRUB2, checking kernel modules, and repairing XFS or LVM volumes if they turn out to be the culprit. SELinux, Dracut, and journalctl experience will help pinpoint root causes quickly. Deliverables • System boots normally to the previous runlevel • Written summary of steps/commands applied so I can reproduce the fix if needed If you can step in swiftly and walk me through or remote-administer the repair, please let me know your estimated timeframe for completion.

I will lead the recovery of your CentOS 7 server to its previous runlevel while keeping the disks and existing data protected. The first checkpoint will be a console-based diagnosis through IPMI/KVM or a rescue ISO, switching off the graphical boot screen so the actual failure is captured before anything is changed. I will map the failure across GRUB2, kernel modules, initramfs/Dracut, LVM, XFS and SELinux, coordinate suitable CentOS/RHEL specialist support where required, and apply the narrowest reversible repair. Filesystem checks will begin read-only; any potentially modifying repair will be discussed first. After recovery, I will test reboot behavior and core services, then deliver the exact commands and findings in a concise written summary. Do you have working IPMI/KVM access with rescue ISO mounting and a recent backup of the critical data?
