I'm looking for a Linux server admin to provide ongoing support for one LAMP server running CentOS 5. The server is almost exclusively running a forum (running Simple Machines Forum, SMF). I do not necessarily expect you to have experience in SMF but if you do then it would help. Experience in Sphinx and Nginx would be useful too.
I would expect you to have a ticketing system, and monitoring system to determine server performance and to react to alerts that you set up.
I would expect that you check logs on a regular basis and check that backups are being completed.
I would expect that you have very good experience in server security and server hardening.
Importantly, I want great communication. For example, if emails stop working I'd expect you to fix it and let me know what the problem was and the commands you used to fix it (within reason, of course!). Your skills in English to be good so that we can understand each other.
I do not expect to submit many support tickets on an ongoing basis. With my current provider I put one in last month relating to changing the backup to another NAS box, and that was all. Previous support tickets over the last few years were relating to site becoming unresponsive due to high load, or if the database crashed. This is just to give you an idea however. I am reasonably Linux literate myself too, but not enough to fully support a server (I need help!).
To save your time (and ours) please do not bid if you don't have any feedback or if the feedback you have is not related to Linux, system admin or web security.
Your bid is for a fixed monthly amount irrespective of the support requests that you have.
Thank you for reading this project. I really look forward to working with you.
