I be honest, I didn't work with DHS survey, but I have worked with many other worldwide and national level of surveys. I don't think that DHS is more difficult than other surveys. I could calculate fertility rate or other demographic indicators in which you are interested at national and regional levels, define whether they are statistically significantly differs (if needed) and any other analysis in which you will be interested.
