Seeking talented Network Engineer who can assist with design of screen sharing solution
Our company is a progressive network solutions company providing bespoke solutions to the corporate market.
We have been requested by our client to provide a solution whereas a Guest or staff member within their corporate office can receive either a coupon code or using radius server authentication, the ability to connect their personal device to a single Chromecast device.
Their office has over 50 meeting rooms, each with its own Chromecast device. Guests and staff both use these meeting rooms and often project their own displays and apps from their handheld devices to the meeting room screens, which have Chromecast devices attached to them.
We have seen solutions within hotel environments where a guest cast content from their own devices to the in-room hotel TV screen. When the guest wishes to cast content, the steps they take are:
1) Enter the Chromecast screen on the TV (normally selecting HDMI 1 etc), on the screen will be a code with instructions to visit a website and enter the code
2) Visit the website indicated, and enter the code indicated
3) The guest is then able to cast content from their own device to the TV in the room
Important things to note:
- The guest is unable to see any Chromecast device until they undertake step 2.
- The guest can only see the Chromecast device allocated to their room after entering the code
We have been working on a solution for corporate environments for some time and have found the following possible solutions:
Create a separate VLAN for each Chromecast and migrate user to that VLAN using Radius server
Use mDNS server to connect user device and Chromecast in bridged tunnel
Possible IPsec VPN to connect user device and Chromecast
Possible use of a FortiGate device to achieve desired results
It is important to also note that this solution will be deployed to several offices, most of which have a mixture of equipment / brands and models of switching / routing gear installed. Therefore, this solution must be able to work within most environments with minimal network changes.
Fancy yourself a network master? Looking for a great challenge? Then this project is for you.
The successful applicant must of course have great networking knowledge. Radius / mDNS / Bonjour Service knowledge vital. If you have completed a similar project in the past, you are a sure winner!
We will have a network engineer and system architect available to assist you with testing and an understanding of our progress to date.
