Output included - 6 defects planted, 6 caught, zero false positives. The design decision that matters: every check returns the same shape (check_name, severity, offending_key, detail, detected_at), so they UNION into one view and a single Sigma table shows every failing rule. Adding a rule later never touches the dashboard. The six checks: 1. Duplicate business keys - the bug that silently doubles every SUM 2. Orphan foreign keys - Snowflake constraints are declarative, not enforced, so this has to be tested explicitly 3. Header vs. sum of lines - this is usually what "the report disagrees with finance" turns out to be 4. Values out of spec - negatives, impossible dates 5. Status codes missing from the dimension - breaks Sigma filters and colour coding without raising any error 6. Data freshness - fires when the loader stops. A stale dashboard looks perfectly healthy, which is why nobody notices in time One thing worth flagging now, because it cost me time while testing: CURRENT_DATE follows the session TIMEZONE. If your loader writes UTC and the session runs local, same-day orders look "future" every evening and the alert cries wolf. I left a one-day margin in the query and documented the strict alternative using CONVERT_TIMEZONE. The file also includes implementation notes: materialising as a view, keeping warehouse cost down with a rolling window, using QUALIFY for single-pass deduplication, and a suggested new visualisation (findings per day stacked by check_name - a single rule spiking points straight at the cause, which a total count never does). Scope, stated honestly: I write, tune and document the SQL. Folding it into your Sigma workbooks needs access to your Snowflake and Sigma accounts, so I would either pair with whoever holds those credentials or hand over copy-paste-ready SQL with instructions - your call. The sample runs on a synthetic dataset since I have not seen your schema.
