I need a full-scope CFD study on my new data-centre layout to confirm that the proposed cooling architecture works as intended. The analysis must cover cooling efficiency, airflow distribution and overall thermal performance so I can be certain we meet ASHRAE thermal compliance before construction moves forward. Your model should capture the entire white space: raised-floor plenum, cold and hot aisles, racks, CRAC/CRAH units and ceiling return path. Once meshed and solved (ANSYS Fluent, 6SigmaDCX, OpenFOAM or comparable software are all acceptable), I will rely on your results to: • Validate airflow paths and pressure balance • Identify and quantify any hotspots or recirculation zones • Confirm that supply/return temperatures keep equipment within the allowable range under peak load Deliverables 1. Editable CFD model with all boundary conditions and material properties 2. A concise report (PDF) including methodology, key plots, temperature maps, velocity vectors and compliance statement against ASHRAE TC 9.9 limits 3. Executive summary with actionable design tweaks if issues are found 4. Native images/animations for stakeholder presentations Please outline your typical workflow, software version and an estimated timeline in your proposal so I can slot the review sessions into our design programme.

804.73 m² hall, 11 CRACs at 140.5 kW each, 12 additional racks at 150 kW — the real question is whether those new racks on the right perimeter survive when you lose one or two cooling units. That's where most data centre layouts fail, and that's where my analysis focuses first. Full white-space CFD model in ANSYS Fluent: plenum, perforated tiles, rack heat loads, CRAC airflow, ceiling return. All three scenarios — normal, N+1, N+2 — simulated against ASHRAE TC 9.9 A1 limits with 158 CFM minimum per rack validated. Temperature maps, velocity vectors, compliance statement, and actionable design tweaks if hotspots appear. Editable model plus presentation-ready animations delivered. What's the plenum depth? That's the first number I need to get the underfloor pressure distribution right.

Hello, I am a CFD Engineer with experience in data-center cooling simulations, including both air-cooled and liquid-cooled systems. I previously worked on thermal analysis for liquid-cooled data centers at tank and ship levels, and I also have research experience in high-density GPU cold-plates. For this project, I will develop a full CFD model including the raised-floor plenum, CRAC/CRAH units, perforated tiles, server racks, cold/hot aisles and ceiling return path. The racks will be modeled as porous thermal zones with distributed heat loads, while perforated tiles will be represented using porous pressure-loss, and the CRAC units will be represented as inlet and outlet patches( detailed modeling of its components could also be included if needed) The assessment will include airflow distribution validation, hotspot and recirculation zones if exist, and cooling-effectiveness assessment using the RCI metric according to ASHRAE TC 9.9 guidelines. Estimated timeline: approximately 2 weeks depending on CAD quality and level of detail. Software: Ansys Before proceeding, I would like to confirm whether 3D CAD geometry is available or only 2D drawings. I also have a few technical questions regarding the system specifications provided in the attachment, which we can discuss further once connected. I would be happy to discuss the project further and share examples of similar CFD and thermal-analysis work I have completed previously. Regards, Walid Badawy

I can deliver a full-scope CFD study of your entire white space (raised-floor plenum, cold/hot aisles, racks, CRAC/CRAH units and ceiling return path) to validate airflow paths/pressure balance, quantify hotspots/recirculation, and confirm ASHRAE TC 9.9 intake-temperature compliance under peak load. From your drawings: hall area ~804.73 m², 11 existing cooling units (140.5 kW each, 7900 L/s per unit) and 12 additional racks highlighted in red; 3 required cases: All units ON, N+1 (1 unit unavailable), N+2 (2 units unavailable). Key clarification before setup (potential inconsistency): 12 racks × 150 kW = 1800 kW, which conflicts with the mentioned “1100 kW original capacity”; also “75 L/s per rack” appears too low for 150 kW/rack. I will lock assumptions only after confirming rack loads/airflow units, supply temps, tile free area/ΔP curves, and leakage paths. Software: OpenFOAM (open-source). Deliverables: editable case folder (mesh+BCs+materials), concise PDF report with plots/maps/vectors + compliance statement, executive summary with design tweaks, and presentation-ready images/animations. Timeline :3 weeks calendar including 2–3 review sessions and final deliverables.

Hi, As an Astronautical Engineer with a professional background in high-fidelity fluid dynamics and structural reliability, I am prepared to deliver a comprehensive CFD study for your data center cooling architecture. Why My Engineering Fits This Scope - I specialize in the deterministic modeling of high-gradient fluid environments. I will model your entire "white space"—from the raised-floor plenum to the ceiling return path—to ensure absolute pressure balance and validate that your airflow paths meet the intended cooling logic. - Drawing on my experience with species-transport and thermal management, I will audit your supply/return temperatures against the specific ASHRAE TC 9.9 thermal envelopes. - Using ANSYS Fluent, I will generate high-resolution velocity vectors and temperature maps, along with native animations for your stakeholder presentations, ensuring the technical data is both actionable and visually compelling. Workflow - Importing your layout and defining boundary conditions for CRAC units (flow rate/setpoints) and rack heat loads. - Building a refined mesh in ANSYS Fluent (Version 2025 R1 or 2026 R1), utilizing SST k-omega or Realizable k-epsilon models to capture turbulent mixing accurately. - Running the simulation at peak load to ensure the thermal architecture sustains the required air-delivery temperatures. - Compiling the PDF report, compliance statement, and stakeholder visuals. I reviewed your requirement and this is closer to a full data-centre airflow validation than a standard CFD task. One thing I’ve seen repeatedly most simulations look correct visually, but fail to capture pressure balance across the raised floor, perforated tiles and rack intake - which is where hotspots and recirculation actually originate. Before suggesting an approach, I want to clarify a couple of technical points: • Are rack heat loads fixed or load-dependent? • How are perforated tiles being modeled currently? • Is containment part of the design or open aisle? If you’re open to it, I can outline a structured approach to ensure the results are actually usable for ASHRAE compliance, not just visual outputs. Happy to discuss.

I am an aerospace engineer with strong CFD experience, and I’ve worked on airflow and thermal problems where distribution and recirculation directly affect performance, which is very similar to data centre cooling. Here is how I will approach your case: • Build the full domain including raised floor, racks, CRAC units, and return paths • Apply realistic boundary conditions based on your cooling units and rack loads • Run all three scenarios, normal, N+1, and N+2 failure • Analyze airflow distribution, pressure balance, and temperature fields • Identify hotspots, bypass flow, and recirculation zones You will get: • Complete CFD model ready to rerun and modify • Temperature maps, velocity vectors, and airflow distribution plots • Clear validation against ASHRAE limits • Short report with direct recommendations to fix any weak zones • Visual outputs for stakeholder presentation My focus is not just running the simulation, but making sure the results actually help you decide if the design works or needs adjustment. If you share full CAD and operating conditions, I can start immediately and outline the setup before solving.
