Before any crawl, one question decides whether an audit helps you at all: when exactly did the drop start, and does it line up with a Google core update, a change on the site, or a coverage shift in Search Console? I ask because "rankings slipped" has several causes that look identical in a crawler and have opposite fixes. If pages aren't being indexed, on-page work changes nothing. If they're indexed but not ranking, that's relevance and authority, not technical. And a crawl-budget problem reads as a content problem in every tool that doesn't look at GSC crawl stats. Crawling first and correlating afterwards is how you end up with a 60-page PDF that moves nothing. So the order I work in: GSC timeline and coverage first, then a full crawl on desktop and mobile, then Core Web Vitals field data from CrUX, then on-page. Findings ranked by expected impact, not by severity colour. Worth saying plainly: an on-site audit doesn't need Ahrefs. That's a backlinks and competitor tool - useful, but a different job from the one you've described. GSC, Bing Webmaster Tools, CrUX and a proper crawl cover everything in your brief, and I'll name the source for each finding so you can verify it. To start I'd need Search Console access (read-only is fine) and the approximate date things slipped. Two questions: roughly how many URLs, and has anything changed on the site in the last 3-6 months?
