An SF start-up is launching a new peer-to-peer awards program around touchscreen phones, where developers nominate other developers for various catergories of best app development/design.
The stage of the project currently is the in the nomination collections, separate awards for each of the five operating systems. The challenge is getting the word out to developers and activitating them to nominate peers by visiting website and filling out nomination form.
We have produced 3 versions of a Google Ad Sense compliant Flash Banner ads; square version and skyscraper, each are under 50k in size per spec.
What we lack is any knowledge whatsoever about how Google Ad Words work,r how to place banner ads in highly targetted ways, and the various payment methodologies (the various click and per view models.)
What we do know is that our target audiences are in very defined places; at the various online developer forum communities for each of the respective operating systems. The issue: we are a tiny start-up, this is a not-for-profit project of our start-up, we are in pre-funded bootstrap stage. This is not-for-profit project of our start-up. As with many scenarios like this most of our money has gone to website production with little allocated to marketing. We don’t even know if we have the kind of money it takes to run these flash ads, which are actually quite beautiful and by all accounts very effective. Our objective is to maximize the promotional impact we can have to make our target audience aware that we need them to go to take action that is in their interest and a good thing, nominating peers for Devvy Awards. Thus, we are looking for a few hours of consulting time with someone who knows turf backwards and forwards, who can look at what we have and advise on options, and not ask what is your budget, rather start from the perspective: what do things cost?
