Video game startup looking for a Localization Engineer (programmer/developer)
€25-50 EUR / heure
We're a startup that specializes in localizing and publishing games from Japan. Most of our projects are visual novels.
Localization Engineers create and troubleshoot solutions to ensure efficiency and consistency in the localization process; this includes script development for data manipulation (extracting strings to localize, then inserting them back), preparing localization kits, defining localization processes, testing, and providing technical support.
Position responsibilities:
- Defining project requirements and preparing localization kits in collaboration with the managers
- Creating scripts/programs to automate processes (such as extracting/inserting text during localization)
- Re-engineering of files after translation (such as re-coding and other technical changes that may be required)
- Providing support for translators as needed
- Defining the QA testing process and providing technical support as required
- Technical support for the end customer after the game goes on sale
Required skills and qualifications:
- 2+ years relevant work experience; fan work may also be considered valid
- Strong knowledge of computer languages (C++, C#, HTML5, etc.), scripting (Perl, ASP, Java, JSP) and markup languages (XML, HTML, XLIFF)
- A passion for technical and solution-based problem solving
- A passion for video games
- Keen attention to detail and adherence to deadlines
- Good verbal and written communication skills
Valued but not required skills and qualifications:
- Knowledge of Translation Memory Tools (Trados and MemoQ)
- Nintendo Switch development knowledge
- Applicable localization experience
- Degree from a college or university in a related field
