In other words:
I need a command line tool/utility/application/script (could be a Java jar, a binary application written in C/C++, or python) that runs in Mac OS X Lion. The application needs to take as a command line argument the path to an audio file in WAV format. As output, the application needs to print 2 lines to standard out: the RMS and the Peak Level of the given WAV file.
- RMS: Average decibels of volume of the audio using "root mean squared"
- Peak Level: Maximum volume level of the song. 0 Decibels or "Db" for short is the max volume a piece of digital audio can have.
- There is an command line tool, afclip, that does something like this but just analyzes to see if the audio file peaks at/above 0 db. I actually need a tool that tells me the actual peak level and the RMS.

Hi! I can do what you need as a Python script and have it ready at most tomorrow. Most of the script is already written, all I need is to have some questions answered to wrap it up. Check PMB for my questions.
