I built a short two-act sample to the exact spec in your points 1 to 4, then measured the output rather than eyeballing it: US Letter at 612 by 792 points, 12-pt Courier embedded in the PDF, left margin at exactly 1.500 inches, character cues centred on the line, music cues and a reprise labelled in place, and page numbers restarting at Act II (they run I-1, I-2, then II-1). Reopening the Word file confirms the 8.5 by 11 page, the 1.500 inch margin, the Courier New 12-pt style and the centring all survive the round trip rather than only looking right on my screen. That sample is here now and I can send it across if you want to see the formatting first. Two things I want to be straight about before you read any further. First, I have not adapted a screenplay for the stage before. You asked for samples of similar work and I do not have them. I have three completed deliveries on this platform and none of them are stage or musical work. I am not going to dress that up. Second, I do not own Final Draft, so the editable file would be Word rather than .fdx. Your brief allows either, but I would rather you hear it from me now than after an award. One detail the test turned up, because it is the sort of thing that quietly fails an acceptance check. Page size and font embedding are two separate settings, and the obvious way to build the PDF gets only the first: my first attempt was correctly US Letter with the Courier not embedded. It still displays fine, because every PDF reader carries Courier. But if the criterion is 12-pt Courier and someone checks the file itself, it is not in there. I rebuilt it so the font is genuinely embedded, and would hand your files over the same way. What I would deliver - The full two-act stage script in editable Word and in PDF, both to the formatting spec above. This is the best option because the Word file stays editable for your director and any future revisions, while the PDF locks the pagination so the page numbers you cite in a rehearsal room do not drift between machines. - Each finished number placed at its dramatic beat with song title, page header, reprise labels and underscore cues marked. This is the best option because a labelled cue sheet lets a music director and a stage manager work off the same document instead of two. - Stage directions, entrances and exits, and transition notes written so a director can block from the page. This is the best option because it keeps the book usable at a first read-through rather than needing a second pass to become stageable. Because I cannot show you past stage work, here is something better than a claim: send me any ten pages and one song that sits inside them, and I will convert that section and send it back in both formats, correctly numbered and cued, before you award anything. If the rhythm is not what you want, you have lost nothing. What I need from you to start - The screenplay file, in any format you have it. - The song list with lyrics and where each number is meant to land, or your best guess if some are still open. No accounts and no logins are needed. The clock starts when those two arrive, not on award, so you are not paying for me to sit waiting on a file. Three questions so I can scope this properly rather than guessing 1. Roughly how many pages is the screenplay, and how many numbers are there in total including reprises? 2. Do you want the lyrics typeset into the book itself, or only the cue with the song title? 3. Are there scenes you already know should merge or drop in the stage version, or should I flag those for you as I go? On price: most of this field is sealed, so I cannot see what most people have bid. My bid sits at the project minimum, which is the lowest anyone can go, so I am tied at the floor rather than undercutting anyone. I am not pretending that is an advantage. Suggested milestone breakdown, total 150 USD over 5 days - M1, 30 USD (20 percent): Act I converted, formatted and cued, delivered for your read - M2, 60 USD (40 percent): Act II converted, formatted and cued - M3, 60 USD (40 percent): full pass for pacing in and out of songs, final Word and PDF Fund M1 to start and release it when you are happy, then fund the next. Standard escrow, and it protects both of us. Why me: I am a process engineer by profession, so structure is the thing I am actually good at. Tracking where a beat lands, what a page number lines up with, and whether a document still holds together after fifty small changes is the same discipline pointed at a different object. I will not tell you I have a musical theatre background, because I do not.
