The purpose of the data collection form is to collect the information necessary from a client in our law office, to prepare their case for bankruptcy.
Basically, a client will call the office, we will prequalify the person & put them into our database. Once in the database they will receive a free consultation by one of our attorneys. The person will come into the office for a free consultation, give the attorney a lot of information and then decide to sign up for the service or not. Once they sign up, we pull a credit report. After the credit report is pulled, we send the “mycase” form.

The main two problems with the mycase approach is that
1) There is massive duplication of entry. We know quite a bit about the person and really only need them to fill in the blanks. For example, stuff like what credit cards they have, all their personal info, their income, etc. is all stuff we get in the consultation and is already entered into our customer database. If the new application could read from the database and autofill in that information, the customer gets reaffirmation that we are listening. Our biggest complaint from clients right now is, “Why do I have to give you all this information I already gave you?!?”
2) The data that gets entered is stays in a silo. The mycase program doesn’t talk to any of our other software or our customer database. After the client enters the data, there is a lot of useful information there that we would like to keep on file in one place, for easy reference. When a client that we dealt with 1 year ago calls in and asks us a question, it is a lot easier to look in the customer database then to open the mycase admin panel and look at it for the answer.
