I want to turn the idea of a small “follow me” car into a working indoor prototype I can use at home. It should quietly track and follow a person around flat floors, weave through doorways or hallways, and stop safely when I stop. Because it is for personal use on smooth indoor surfaces, size and noise matter more to me than ruggedness or high speed. Here’s what I need from you: • Select or design a compact chassis, drive train, and battery that can run at least 30 minutes on a single charge. • Recommend and integrate the sensing stack—camera, ultrasonic, LiDAR, Bluetooth beacon, or any mix you believe best balances accuracy and cost—for reliable human-following and basic obstacle avoidance indoors. • Write the control firmware / software, preferably in Arduino-compatible C++ or Python (I’m open to your preferred stack if you justify it). • Provide a complete bill of materials, wiring diagram or schematic, cleanly commented source code, and step-by-step assembly instructions. • Demonstrate performance with a short video of the car successfully following a person around an average-sized room, stopping within a safe distance, and resuming when the path is clear. If you have past robotics or embedded systems experience—especially with indoor navigation or human-tracking—please share it when you respond. I’m happy to discuss alternative sensor choices and clever ideas that keep the build affordable without sacrificing reliability.

Hi, I can take your “follow-me” car from concept to a complete indoor working prototype, including the mechanical design, electronics, sensing, and control software. I’d recommend a compact differential-drive platform with quiet geared motors, Li-ion battery, and a camera + distance-sensor/LiDAR stack for reliable human tracking and obstacle avoidance. I can develop the control system in Python or Arduino-compatible C++, with smooth following, safe stopping distance, path recovery, and doorway navigation built into the logic. You’ll receive a complete BOM, wiring schematic, well-commented source code, assembly guide, and a tested prototype workflow designed around 30+ minutes of runtime. My focus would be keeping the system compact, quiet, affordable, and dependable rather than unnecessarily complex. I can also provide a clear testing/demo plan showing person-following, obstacle avoidance, stopping, and automatic resume behavior.

Hi, an indoor car that keeps a person in front of it and stops clean when they stop. Losing the target on a doorway turn is what kills these. How I would build it: an ESP32 cam running a light person tracker, box offset steering the wheels and box height holding distance, two motors on a TB6612 off a 3S pack, with a front ultrasonic that can override it. Should it follow through doorways into other rooms? My shipped work is AI rather than robots, so I'd send video of the tracker before anything gets glued down. Regards, Zohaib

I’m an engineering professional experienced in embedded systems, firmware development with C and Python, Arduino-based solutions, sensor integration, control systems, and embedded product prototyping. I can help develop the indoor follow-me prototype from the system architecture through hardware integration and testing. The sensing approach can be selected based on the required following accuracy, obstacle detection, indoor environment, cost, and available processing resources. I can work on the embedded control logic, sensor integration, motor/control behavior, and safety-related stop/resume logic. I can also prepare the BOM, wiring/schematic documentation, commented source code, and step-by-step assembly documentation. For the mechanical side, I can also contribute to the compact chassis and product-oriented design while keeping the system practical for smooth indoor surfaces and quiet operation. I would first evaluate the available sensing options and define a reliable architecture before implementation, with the goal of keeping the prototype affordable while maintaining stable indoor behavior.

Hi, You’re looking for a compact indoor robot that can reliably follow a person through rooms and doorways, maintain a safe distance, avoid obstacles, and stop/resume smoothly—not just a remote-controlled car. I can build the software around a camera-based tracking approach, with LiDAR/ultrasonic sensing used for distance and obstacle safety. Python can handle the vision and decision layer, while Arduino-compatible C++ can manage motor control and low-level sensors. I’ll also provide the BOM, wiring/schematic, commented code, assembly steps, and testing procedure. My Python, computer-vision/AI, and automation background is well suited to building the tracking and decision logic efficiently. I can also keep the sensor stack practical and cost-conscious rather than overengineering it. Best Regards, Muhammad Wasim

Hi, an indoor follow me car that tracks you across flat floors and stops when you stop. Following is the easy half. It's doorways where these fall over. How we would build it: a compact two motor chassis, a camera doing the person tracking with ultrasonic for close range, firmware in Arduino C++ turning tracking error into differential drive, plus a timeout that halts if it loses you. Roughly how big is the room? we have built embedded motor control before and can send the BOM and wiring first. Regards, Digitalizers

I can take care of ‘Indoor Personal Follow-Me Car’. I’ll reproduce the integration flow, implement the required endpoint/auth/error handling, and verify the happy path plus failure cases, then deliver working source/configuration with test evidence and concise setup notes. The listed stack (C Programming, Python, Electronics) fits that delivery path. I can start immediately; proposed turnaround is 2 days. If you have one priority sample or edge case, I’ll use it as the acceptance check.

Hello! My team and I can develop the indoor person-following robot prototype with compact hardware, reliable tracking and basic obstacle avoidance. I have hands-on experience with Arduino/ESP32, robotics, motor control, sensors, embedded systems and computer-vision/vehicle tracking projects. I can use this experience to build a practical indoor prototype rather than just a simulation. My approach would use a camera-based person-tracking system combined with distance sensing for obstacle detection. The controller will continuously determine the person's direction/distance, control the drive motors, stop when the person stops or an obstacle is detected, and resume when the path becomes clear. I will provide: • Compact chassis and drive-train recommendation • Sensor/component selection and BOM • Wiring diagram/schematic • Arduino/ESP32-compatible firmware/software • Person-following and obstacle-avoidance logic • Battery/runtime considerations • Assembly and setup instructions • Testing and demonstration guidance I will prioritize low noise, compact size, affordability and reliable operation on smooth indoor floors. I have not previously deployed this exact follow-me robot, but my existing robotics, embedded and sensor-integration experience is directly relevant to the project.

As you descibed the goal is to build a compact indoor follow-me robot that can detect and follow a person while maintaining a safe distance, avoid obstacles, stop safely when blocked, and resume when the path is clear. This requires reliable integration of the drivetrain, sensors, battery, vision, and control software rather than simply making a robot with wheels and optimism. I will build a differential-drive platform with geared motors and encoders, using a Raspberry Pi for camera-based person detection and high-level control, and an ESP32 for real-time motor control. LiDAR and ultrasonic sensors will provide obstacle detection and a safety layer. I will develop it incrementally: mechanical and electrical assembly, motor control, sensor integration, person tracking, obstacle avoidance, then real-world testing and tuning. I bring both software and hands-on hardware experience. I am a software developer experienced with Python, AI/computer vision workflows, APIs and system integration. I also have practical experience from generator manufacturing, including motor design and assembly, electrical wiring, soldering circuit boards, and mechanical fabrication. I have access to the tools required to build and troubleshoot the physical prototype, allowing me to handle both the hardware and software sides of the project.

Hi, I can help you build this indoor follow-me prototype. A few quick thoughts on approach before I dive in: For reliable indoor human-following on a budget, I'd recommend a Bluetooth-beacon (RSSI-based) or ultrasonic+IR sensor fusion approach over camera/LiDAR — it's far cheaper, works well on smooth flat floors, and avoids the compute overhead of vision-based tracking, while still giving you smooth directional following and stop-on-proximity behavior. Proposed stack: Arduino-compatible microcontroller (ESP32 for BLE + WiFi debugging), ultrasonic sensors for obstacle avoidance, BLE beacon carried by the user for direction/distance, small DC-motor differential drive chassis. Deliverables: commented C++ firmware, wiring diagram, BOM with sourcing links, assembly guide, and a demo video of it tracking a person around a room and stopping safely. Note: the ₹600–1,500 range likely covers labor/software only — actual components (motors, chassis, sensors, battery, MCU) typically run ₹3,000–6,000 depending on sensor choice. Happy to discuss a milestone split (design+firmware first, hardware assembly as a follow-up) to keep this workable within budget. Let me know your thoughts and I'll refine the plan around your exact space and budget constraints.
