I need to stand up a small industrial robotic cell that can pick and place mixed-material parts. Everything must run flawlessly in a full digital-twin environment before we commit to hardware, so I’m looking for a rapid-turn mechatronics engineer who is equally comfortable in CAD, multibody simulation, and control integration. Here’s the flow: you will build the mechanical layout, specify the electrical architecture, select or size the actuators, and prove the kinematics, cycle time, and collision clearances in simulation. Once the virtual model hits all targets, we’ll move immediately to a physical prototype, so every nut, bolt, sensor and cable needs to be ready for procurement the moment the digital twin is approved. Preferred tools include SolidWorks or Siemens NX for design, Process Simulate / DELMIA or an equivalent for the digital twin, and ROS or TwinCAT for control validation—but I’m flexible if you have a proven workflow that delivers the same fidelity and speed. Deliverables • Complete 3-D CAD of the cell, end-effector and [login to view URL] customer provideed 3D printed parts as needed • Digital-twin model with cycle-time report and collision checks • Control logic and I/O map ready to load to the chosen controller • Fabrication drawings and consolidated BOM for fast ordering • Short video or screen-capture proving the simulated run If you can prototype quickly, document thoroughly, and move seamlessly from virtual to real, let’s get started.

Hi, I reviewed your robotic cell/digital-twin requirement and it aligns strongly with my experience in mechatronics, motion systems, and simulation-driven design. I’m a mechatronics/embedded engineer with 15+ years of experience, having delivered 20+ automated cells (pick-and-place, conveyor integration) with validated digital twins, achieving <2% cycle-time deviation between simulation and hardware and reducing integration time by ~30%. Approach: ✅ I will build the full 3D CAD cell (robot, EOAT, fixtures, guarding) and define kinematics, reach envelopes, and service clearances. ✅ I will select actuators, drives, sensors, and power architecture, then validate motion profiles and loads via multibody simulation. ✅ I will develop the digital twin (Process Simulate/DELMIA or equivalent), run cycle-time optimization, and perform collision/interference checks. ✅ I will define control logic (ROS/TwinCAT), generate I/O mapping, and deliver fabrication drawings, BOM, and a simulation proof video. Questions: ✅ I need to confirm target throughput (parts/min), payload range, and material mix to size actuators and EOAT correctly. ✅ I want to verify preferred robot type (SCARA, 6-axis, gantry) and any existing hardware constraints. ✅ I need clarification on control platform preference (ROS vs TwinCAT/PLC) and integration with upstream/downstream equipment. ✅ I want to confirm available 3D printed parts and any enclosure/footprint constraints for the cell layout. Best, Yaroslav

Two details stood out: the digital-twin-first workflow (nothing touches hardware until simulation hits all targets) and the BOM-ready handoff so procurement can move the moment the twin is approved. That sequencing is what makes or breaks the prototype phase. How I'd approach week one: 1. Lock the cell layout and reach envelope in CAD against your part mix and cycle-time target. 2. Stand up the digital twin with kinematics, collision zones, and a cycle-time report you can review on day 4. 3. Draft the I/O map and control logic skeleton (ROS or TwinCAT) so it loads cleanly to the chosen controller. I come from a software and systems-integration background (full-stack, control logic, real-time data flows), so I'm strongest on the simulation, controls, and BOM-consolidation side. If you have a CAD partner already, I can pair with them; if not, I can run the full stack. Done = digital twin passes cycle-time and collision checks, with a procurement-ready BOM and short capture video. Do you want me to start with the layout and twin together, or split layout into a separate first milestone? Waqar
