Is PSTD the cause of my wife's diagnosed illness - periods of suicidal depression.
1. If she is suffering from PTSD - I want to confirm or deny absolutely an event she describes, but her family is ignorant of---
2. The event in question -- On (or around) March 23, 1986 in the Greater NYC area she thinks she witnessed her close friend killed, as well as the friend’s uncle being violently attacked. He also may have been killed, or just robbed.
However, she has holes in her memory as to key info, the friend's last name, etc. making a normal search very difficult.
3. I need to confirm or disapprove this event. Your suggestions are invaluable, i had thought to do it via a list of names, crime victims, that the people existed- police reports. Knowing if the events happened, or disprove them absolutely, might be we can move forward in the diagnosis - delusions/false memories .... I would be able to put a list of victims in front of her, as well as contact the people's survivors, and find the newspaper coverage -- if I had more info.
4, Her recollections are hazy at best, hence the huge challenge this is... place -- could be Brooklyn, could be Queens... and as an outrider, For example, she also thinks it could have happened in Pittsburgh... again March 23, 1986.
5. For Greater NYC, Getting the info on crime stats, with names for both places, on that day would be helpful to prove or disprove it. Ditto Pittsburgh.
Being able to confirm the death of the friend for certain would also be helpful.
Robberies, a store robbed?, for the same would be helpful.
The one clear thing, it was not likely in downtown Manhattan.
Ask me if you have further question to undertake this, producing useful info re: to help solve her illness, and prove or disprove the PSTD event happened or did not.
PS naturally, the better a summary and useful info I get the more valuable your services are -- just a link to the NYC victim services website isn't what I want, I need the info :)

I imagine I can help do some research; the information sounds kind of sparse, but I'm sure I can come up with some information for you. Names of the friend and uncle would obviously help, but, lacking that, something Plus
