Task is to write a report between 5 and 7 sides of single spaced A4 which investigates, through the use of recent examples, some possible solutions to the problems of managing people in organisations. Critical discussions should be made in relation to people management and should address some of the following aspects: motivation, learning, managing conflict, team formation, leadership, group
dynamics, organisational development and the management of change within projects/organisations.
1: Using Internet and other sources, e.g. a national newspaper or other news publications (written in English), find a recent article (within the last 12 months) that describes at least one problem of managing people in either organisations, projects or both. A copy of the article should be provided in Appendix of your report.
2: Describe the problem(s) in relation to the example (in Task 1)
3: Propose possible solutions to the problem(s) in relation to Task 2.
4: Discuss these solutions. Discussion should include some of the following considerations, but need not be limited to them:
• Managing Conflict
• Managing Change
• Team Formation
• Group Dynamics
5: Critical evaluation of application of the proposed solutions. You may present some examples of good and poor practice of applications of the proposed solutions in managing people in projects. You may provide their comparisons. Also you may discuss the effectiveness of an
application of the proposed solutions.
6: Provide recommendations for the support needed to implement the solutions that you have
It is important that your discussion is reinforced by references to various secondary information sources such as academic journals and other literature.
