I would like a script to gather basic pricing information about a ticker symbol. I have suggestions about where to pull the data that should help. CSV output is preferred.
For some additional information.
There are a few places that offer api's for the data. Some examples are [login to view URL] , [login to view URL] , [login to view URL] , [login to view URL] , investopedia.com... and many others. Some provide downloads of files. others provide api access.
I am mainly interested in arbitrary us/canadian stocks as well as mutual funds from vanguard, tiaa, dfa, fidelity, blackrock, franklin templeton , and american funds. Indexes would also be helpful, such as the s&p500 and dow .
I am looking for mostly daily historical data, 52 week high/low, open/close, and other basic information. Im hoping the script doesnt get blocked due to rate limiting.
The script should be written in python and the code needs to be well documented , as well as as provide --help to describe the flags needed.
This script will be run on a new fully patched stock centos 8 machine. I will need a list of prerequisite packages to install and the coder will not have access to the machine and the code will be shared with me via my github project.
Please let me know via chat if you need additional information, and I will update the project details.
To confirm that you have read this, please let me know via chat if you prefer "coffee or tea", because I have some bids from coders that don't appear to have reviewed the requirements.
