I'm in need of a PROFESSIONAL programmer who can modify game files (mainly the levels/maps) of the format .rfa and .con from an old game of 2002/2003 named Desert Combat. This game is known as a patch for the game Battlefield 1942. There's a game mode named Conquest (CQ) which already has the modded maps (I have the modded files on my PC). But, this game mode is dead due to the lack of players. So, i'd like the mods from CQ to be copied into the game mode Cooperate (COOP). Just to let you know, COOP game mode has bots which we play with and against, whereas CQ mode doesn't. So I'm not sure if this affects the modding. I have ALL the data needed and I also have a few maps which have been modded already which is a bonus! But there's still minor mods to be made on them. I also have 12 CTF (Catch The Flag) maps which i would like modding and these are simply to replace just a few vehicles with modded vehicles. An example is the Humvee. We have a modded humvee which has a minigun and turbo. I would like the default humvee's replaced with the modded humvee. And some other minor mods to other vehicles and adding other vehicles. I have a link to download this game for free if it helps to test the mods you've made. I also have a server up and running so we can both test the mods there. Honestly, I'm hoping to keep this under £250 as i'm not making a profit for this, i'm simply doing it to keep an old game alive, a game i started in 2002/2003 when i was 18. I'd also like to stay in contact via WhatsApp once we're complete, so if i want any further mods made, we can discuss it and get paid via direct debit. Much appreciated Simon :)

Hi Simon, I can help modify the Desert Combat/Battlefield 1942 map files and port the existing CQ vehicle/map changes into COOP mode, while also updating the CTF maps with the required vehicle replacements. The best solution is to first review your existing `.rfa` and `.con` files, compare the working CQ modded maps against the COOP versions, then carefully transfer the vehicle/object/spawn changes while preserving bot compatibility and COOP gameplay logic. For the CTF maps, I can replace default vehicles such as Humvees with your modded versions and make the other minor vehicle additions/changes you need. I’m comfortable with classic game file structures, map/config editing, modded asset integration, server-side testing, debugging broken spawns/objects, and careful versioned file management so changes can be rolled back if needed. Deliverables will include: * Modified COOP map files * Updated CTF maps * Vehicle replacement/addition edits * Testing-ready `.rfa/.con` files * Notes on all changes made * Support for testing on your server I understand this is a passion project to keep an old game alive, so I’ll keep the work focused, practical, and within the £250 budget. Best regards Ankit

Hello Simon, As a result of a detailed review of your project requirements, I fully understand the scope and expectations. I have experience handling similar game file modification and testing tasks, and I’m available to start your project right now. I bring strong experience in Game Development, C++/C# programming, game file structure analysis, scripting/config modification, legacy game modding, and game testing. One of the key challenges here is correctly moving the CQ map modifications into COOP while preserving bot compatibility, vehicle spawns, map logic, and server stability. My simple approach would be to review the existing modded CQ files and your already-completed sample maps, compare the .rfa/.con structure, then apply the required vehicle and map changes in controlled batches. After each batch, we can test directly on your running server to confirm the modded Humvee, added vehicles, and COOP bot behavior work properly without breaking the maps. I have one quick question: • For the 12 CTF maps, do you already have a clear list of which vehicles should be replaced or added on each map? I understand this is a passion project to keep an old game alive, and I’m happy to work carefully within your budget. Looking forward to discussing the details. Best regards, Carlos

Hi You're trying to port modded content from the Conquest mode of Desert Combat into the COOP mode, and the key challenge is that COOP uses bots with AI-driven behaviors, while CQ has none. Simply copying .rfa and .con files might break pathfinding, spawn points, or vehicle AI logic. I would carefully analyze the vehicle and map scripts from your already-modded CQ files, then adapt them to COOP by adjusting AIWaypoint nodes, spawn templates, and object definitions specific to bot support. For the CTF maps, swapping default vehicles like the Humvee with your modded minigun/turbo variant involves editing the ObjectSpawners and ensuring the new vehicle's physics and weapon scripts are properly referenced. I have experience reverse-engineering legacy game engines and working with .rfa archives, so I can ensure each modification is tested on your server before finalizing. You can expect clean, well-documented changes that maintain compatibility with the original game files. Looking forward to hearing from you. Best regards, Jose

༺❖༻ Dear Simon ༺❖༻ Thanks for posting about your project. Your requirement perfectly matches my experience with legacy game modding and gameplay system adjustments. I’ve worked on modifying and adapting older game assets, including map logic, vehicle replacements, and mode conversions in legacy FPS titles. I understand the structure of older game file formats and how gameplay modes like Conquest and Co-op differ in logic, especially when bots, spawn systems, and vehicle rules are involved. For your Desert Combat project, I can help you transfer CQ map configurations into COOP mode, adjust bot compatibility where needed, and safely implement vehicle replacements such as your modified Humvee without breaking spawn logic or map stability. I will also review your existing modded maps and apply consistent adjustments across the 12 CTF maps so vehicle swaps and gameplay balance remain stable. I will work directly with your provided files, test changes with your server setup, and ensure everything runs smoothly before final delivery. I also keep backups and document each modification so future updates are easy. I’m comfortable continuing communication after completion if you need ongoing tweaks or new mods later. Let’s connect and go over your files and test setup so I can confirm scope and timeline. Best regards, Glenn Bondoc

Hi. Game modding for older Battlefield 1942/Desert Combat files needs more than copying assets — the key is correctly mapping .rfa and .con resources between Conquest and COOP modes while ensuring bot compatibility, vehicle spawning rules, and map logic remain stable. Your project reminded me of similar legacy game modding work I’ve handled where I adapted existing map assets, modified vehicle spawns, adjusted game mode configs, and tested changes on private servers to ensure AI/bots and multiplayer rules behaved correctly. In this kind of work, the challenge is not only moving mods between modes, but also ensuring the underlying game logic (especially COOP bot systems) doesn’t break or desync. For your project, I would first analyze your existing CQ modded maps and compare them with COOP structure, then port and adjust the .rfa/.con files, replace vehicles (e.g., Humvee variants), apply CTF map edits, and test everything on your server to confirm stability with bots and gameplay balance. A few questions before estimating scope: Q1 - Are the COOP maps already existing vanilla maps, or custom COOP files that need full conversion? Q2 - Do you want bot behavior tuning as well, or only map/vehicle asset replacements? Budget can be released after full project completion and confirmation.

Hi Simon! Love that you're doing this to keep an old game alive — Desert Combat and BF1942 modding is exactly the kind of thing I enjoy digging into. The .rfa archives and .con script files are very workable; .rfa is just a packaged container, so it's a case of unpacking, editing the .con definitions, and repacking cleanly. The CQ-to-COOP move is the interesting part. The map objects and vehicle spawns should carry over fine, but COOP adds bots — so I'd want to check the bot/AI and spawner entries don't break, and test on your server with bots actually playing. That's where having your live server is gold. The CTF vehicle swaps (default Humvee → your minigun+turbo modded one, plus the other vehicle add/replace work) are straightforward once I see how your modded files are structured. £250 sounds reasonable for the scope as I understand it — let's confirm the details first. Happy to stay on WhatsApp afterward for future tweaks too. Send the files over and let's get started! ?

As an experienced Senior Electronics Engineer, it may seem like a stretch to call myself a 'professional game modifier', but my skills in C++ programming and embedded systems lend themselves perfectly to the task at hand. I might not have as extensive specific experience with Desert Combat, but my background in firmware development and power electronics gives me a unique perspective on tackling your map modification needs. I pride myself on being a quick learner and I can guarantee that I'll get thoroughly acquainted with Desert Combat's game files (rfa and con) before we start the project. Moreover, my proficiency in circuit design and PCB layout will translate well to understanding and implementing the changes you're looking for in the maps. I've also amassed enough experience in system integration and project management to take your provided mods and seamlessly apply them to the COOP game mode. Additionally, I'm quite familiar with bots-based gameplay such as the one found in COOP, which should prove advantageous when working on these modes. Finally, I relate wholeheartedly to your sentiment of preserving an old game for nostalgia's sake rather than profit. This is what sets me apart; my passion for what I do extends beyond just work-for-hire - I appreciate the significance of personal connections we hold with games from our youth. So let's work together to breathe new life into Desert Combat! I offer you not only my expertise at an affordable rate but also a long-term commitment to your project via WhatsApp for any future modding needs you may have. Let's keep this game alive, Simon!

Hi Simon, I work closely with legacy game data, binary formats, and custom map logic. The tricky part here is consistency between game modes. CQ and COOP often differ in how entities, spawn logic, and AI hooks are defined. Moving assets is one thing, but keeping bot behavior stable and preventing broken triggers is another. There’s also risk around file integrity when modifying older formats like .rfa and .con, especially across multiple maps with slight variations. A few things I’d want to clarify. Are the COOP maps already using similar entity structures as CQ, or are they fundamentally different? How are bots currently linked to vehicles and spawn points? And are you testing on a dedicated server or local instances? Happy to take a look.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Verified! Hi, I will convert and adapt your .rfa and .con map and vehicle mods from Conquest into Cooperate, accounting for bots and AI. I understand you want Humvee replacements, vehicle swaps, and minor fixes; you have all files and some maps partly modded. My approach: inspect files, update spawn and vehicle entries, adjust bot/AI configs, test on your server and iterate until stable. I can keep this within your £250 goal, am ready to start and hope to discuss soon. Best regards, Luka
