We are looking for an experienced web developer to build the public frontend of a numismatic database dedicated to ancient coins. The backend infrastructure is already fully operational and includes Dédalo v6, Numisdata, PostgreSQL, MariaDB/MySQL, and a working API/publication system. The developer will not be responsible for backend configuration, ontology mappings, or publication workflows. The focus is exclusively on the public website and data integration. The website will serve both as the official project website and as a searchable online database (estimated database size: approx. 3,000 records). Website Structure & Features Static/Institutional Pages: Home, About the Project, Team, Partners, Contacts. Bilingual Framework: Full support for Italian and English. Database Section: Free text search. Advanced filters (mint, issuing authority, material, chronology, weight, diameter, bibliography, provenance, etc.). Results list layout with images and key metadata. Individual coin pages with stable, SEO-friendly URLs. CSV export functionality for search results. Interactive Map: Integration of a Leaflet/OpenStreetMap map linked to coin records to display provenance/findspot information. Preferred Technologies We are open to evaluating the best architectural approach based on performance and ease of maintenance. Preferred technologies include: Maps: Leaflet / OpenStreetMap. Frontend: Modern JavaScript (e.g., Astro, React, Vue, or Vanilla JS) OR a robust PHP framework (e.g., Laravel). Note: Since the backend already exposes APIs and the dataset is relatively small (3,000 records), Jamstack or Static Site Generation (SSG) approaches will be highly valued for their speed, security, and low maintenance overhead. Project Milestones Payments will be released based on 3 clear milestones: Milestone 1: Website structure, UI/design proposal, bilingual framework, static pages, initial API connection, and basic search with results list. Milestone 2: Advanced filters, individual coin pages, stable URLs, image management, and CSV export. Milestone 3: Interactive Leaflet map, testing, performance optimization, final documentation, and deployment. Mandatory Documentation (Upon Delivery) Complete and clean source code. Installation and configuration guide for the frontend. Requirements: Proven experience in API integration and data-driven websites. Experience with Leaflet or web GIS/mapping. Good eye for UI/UX design (the final website must be responsive, lightweight, and visually attractive). Ability to work with a bilingual English/Italian setup (text content will be provided).

Hello, Your project is a great fit for my experience in building fast, data-driven web applications with modern frontend technologies and API integrations. Given your existing backend infrastructure (Dédalo, Numisdata, PostgreSQL/MySQL, and publication APIs), I would focus entirely on delivering a lightweight, responsive, and SEO-friendly public frontend. For this type of project, I would recommend using **[login to view URL] or Astro** with Static Site Generation (SSG) where appropriate, ensuring excellent performance, security, and low maintenance while still supporting dynamic search and filtering. I can implement: • Bilingual Italian/English website structure • Modern, responsive UI for institutional pages • Full-text search and advanced filtering connected to your APIs • SEO-friendly coin detail pages with stable URLs • Results listing with images and metadata • CSV export functionality • Leaflet/OpenStreetMap integration for provenance and findspot visualization • Performance optimization, accessibility, and SEO best practices I have experience building API-driven platforms, integrating complex datasets, and creating intuitive search interfaces with a strong focus on usability and maintainability. I am comfortable working with milestone-based delivery and can provide clean source code, installation documentation, and deployment guidance upon completion. I would be happy to discuss the API structure and propose the most suitable architecture before development begins.

Hi, I've built data-driven websites, searchable directories, and API-integrated platforms before, and I'm confident I can exceed your expectations on this project. What stands out here is that the backend is already solid, so the real value is creating a fast, bilingual, public-facing experience where users can search, filter, explore coin records, and view provenance data clearly. Quick question: Do you prefer an SSG/Jamstack approach for speed and low maintenance, or would you rather use Laravel for more traditional server-side control? I’d be happy to discuss the best architecture and milestone plan. Best, Uttam Shingala

Hi, I will build the public frontend for your numismatic database — static pages, bilingual framework (IT/EN), searchable coin catalog with advanced filters, and the interactive Leaflet map for provenance data. Given the ~3,000 record dataset and your existing API, I will use Astro with static site generation — pre-rendering coin pages with stable, SEO-friendly URLs while keeping the search and map components as interactive islands. This approach delivers near-instant page loads and minimal server overhead compared to a full SPA. Questions: 1) Does the Dédalo API return GeoJSON for findspot coordinates, or will I need to transform the location data for Leaflet? 2) Should the CSV export run client-side against cached results, or hit the API directly? Looking forward to discussing further. Best regards, Kamran

Hi — Elias here from Miami. I see you're looking for a frontend developer for your numismatic database with an interactive map. This project sounds interesting, but I understand that integrating geospatial data can be tricky. It's not just about displaying coins; it's about ensuring users can interact seamlessly with the map and access the relevant information. Common issues I’ve seen in similar projects include performance slowdowns when loading large datasets and difficulties in maintaining data accuracy across different platforms. These can significantly impact user experience if not managed properly. My approach would be to start with a solid plan for data organization and efficient API calls to ensure fast loading times. I'd also implement responsive design principles from the get-go to cater to different devices. To better understand your needs, I'd like to ask: What specific features do you envision for the interactive map? And do you have an existing database structure, or will we need to design one from scratch? Looking forward to your thoughts.

Hi, Frontend for an ancient coins database — searchable records, advanced filters, individual coin pages with stable URLs, CSV export, and a Leaflet map showing provenance and findspot data. Bilingual Italian/English. Backend already running with API exposure. This is a well-scoped project and I can build it properly. For the stack I'd go with Astro — it's the right choice here. Static site generation with API data fetching at build time means the public site is fast, secure, and low-maintenance. For a 3,000-record dataset that's updated periodically rather than in real time, SSG is significantly better than a dynamic server-rendered approach. Individual coin pages with SEO-friendly stable URLs are native to how Astro works. Leaflet/OpenStreetMap for the interactive map, connected to coin records for provenance and findspot display. Advanced filters, results list with images and metadata, CSV export — all handled cleanly in the frontend consuming your existing API. Bilingual framework I'd implement with i18n routing so Italian and English versions have proper separate URLs for SEO. Three milestones as you've outlined makes sense — structure and basic search first, then advanced features, then map and final delivery. Stelian

Hi, I have experience building API-driven websites with advanced search, filtering, mapping integrations, and responsive UI. I can develop the public frontend, integrate with your existing APIs, and deliver a fast, maintainable solution. * Is the API already exposing all filterable fields (mint, authority, material, chronology, provenance, etc.)? * Do you already have UI mockups/design references, or should I propose the frontend design? * Will the CSV export use only filtered search results, or should it support full database exports as well? I can start immediately and help deliver all three milestones with clean documentation and deployment support. Regards Saju
