I want to create a tool in Excel that can use to calculate the pump input horsepower required to move cylinders 1 and 2 against a specified force at a specified velocity for both extension and retraction. The user should be able to input geometry characteristics for all components. Take losses in the pipes and in the fittings into account. You may want to look at problem 9-33 in the text to see the sorts of values you can use for testing.154326Cylinder 1Cylinder 2

The user should be able to INPUT the following, be sure to take note of the units:•Cylinder 1 force (lbs), Cylinder 2 force (lbs), and Cylinder 1 piston speed (in/sec)•Specific gravity (unitless) and viscosity (cS) of the fluid•Piston and rod diameter (inch) for each Cylinder, they are not necessarily the same•K factors for the elbows, check valve, and DCV•Diameter to be used for the DCV (in), it doesn’t necessarily have to match connecting pipes•Diameter (in) and pipe length (ft) for each of the pipes shown, designated by a circle with a number•Overall pump efficiency•Note, in each case where a 90°turn is shown in the diagram, assume an elbow•Assume that the PRV is set high enough so that the pressure increase from the pump determines the maximum force that can be moved.

The spreadsheet should OUTPUT the following, be sure to take note of the units:•Horsepower required to be provided to the pump in extension and retraction•Cylinder 2 piston speed (in/sec) in extension and in retraction•Overall efficiency of the system for extension and retraction •Output power is the power from the cylinders, F*v•Note that F*v will give you lb-in/sec while the pump power will be in hp.
