We are looking for someone to rebuild our site surveying software in a more modern format to facilitate compatibility with modern hardware.
Our software was written in VB6 for the Windows platform and has a SQL server database in the backend. It has been adapted over the years and was originally designed for tablets with stylus input. We want it redesigned to make the software more user friendly, efficient and compatible with typical fingertip input that is common on modern tablets.
A 28 page brief has been written complete with wireframes of all forms and brief descriptions of functionality. This will be released to interested parties. A further brief is in the process of being completed and this includes details of database tables and fields and their interaction.
The new software should ideally be written to interact with the existing SQL server database. If not, a means of populating the SQL database will need to be included in your submission. A means of securely deploying the software is required along with licencing to ensure that only validated users have access to use it. Importing and exporting of data is required and an automated transfer / backup to a secure server would be preferable.
In brief there are 3 main forms that are used by the user but if you include the login page, survey selection pages, item and field selection forms, a total of 17 forms / sub-forms are required, though many of these include similar functionality that merely accesses different tables so a certain degree of repetition can be expected.
Time is less important that content and quality however a total project deadline of 6 months would seem more than reasonable.
The applicant should propose achievable milestones for the project and will be expected to meet them (hence the generous time frame offered). Staged payments will be agreed for milestones completed with a large balloon payment for successful completion of the project. We are willing to offer a sales commission to the successful developer on any future sales of the software however an agreement will need to be signed to confirm that the source code, intellectual property rights and completed software remain the soul property of our company.
