Registered users should be able to login in and out, ideally a facility available from all pages,
though certainly from the front page.
Any one of the three registered users (see the database table ‘subscribers’) should be able to log
in by typing their email and password (their email is also their password, details in the sql script
provided). Note that the passwords are stored on the database in encrypted form.
Once logged in you should ensure persistence of the login state across all pages by using Sessions.
Logging in will mean the user has access to the menus and functionality for saving, retrieving
and deleting saved articles. Logging out should clear all session information.
Should have its own header which should contain appropriate system titles or images and menu
options and a means of logging in and out.
The channel title, description, copyright and image url should be displayed, but discretely, perhaps
in a floated element to one side of the page.
Show each article item from the xml feed, displaying the title as the hyperlink, with the category
underneath that on its own line, followed by the description.
Ideally the hyperlink to which the title points should, ideally, be to a script of yours which then
displays the retrieved article body ‘inside’ your page so that you can maintain your site look and feel.
Simply displaying the linked article web page would be a second best.
Remember, if the user is logged in, extra menus and functionality are available. Articles can be
saved either once retrieved or by means of appropriate form elements on the front page topic listing.
Also, a listing of any previously saved article can be viewed and deleted.
The two searches you should implement using xpath rather than any other search method
(not iteration and matching for instance).
Saving the Articles
When an article is saved, you should:
! From the xml summary save to the table ‘articles’ the attributes title, link and category into
fields of the same name.
! Retrieve the full article and save it to the field called body
! The subscriber’s email should be saved to the field called ‘subscriberID’ so that each saved
article is linked to the logged in user.
Listing Saved Articles
There should be a menu option, only available to logged in users, that, when chosen, will list the
following detail from the user’s saved articles in the database: title, the first 100 characters from the
