2 very important parts of the project;
-The language/use is configurable (so the website can be adapted/used for different industries; Automotive, Restaurant, Hotel etc). The initial build/proof of concept should be around the hotel industry
-Code should be clean, concise, maintainable and scalable. I myself am a developer/programmer and will be able to ratify the code. It should be possible to enhance the functionality through additional project phases without completely rewriting existing code
The website/engine should have 2 "portals";
-Register an account (Company Name, Contact Name, Address, Logo, Website, Phone Number, E-Mail Address)
-Add "items" (hotels)
-Fill in pre-defined fields (price, location, short description, long description)
-Fill in "classifications" (has hot-tub, has spa)
-View items and statistics (number of times "item" has been returned by a search, number of times "item" has been clicked and number of times each image has been viewed)
-Modify items (the database should be structured so that it is possible to see previous versions of items)
-Register an account (either directly or using facebook social login; only Name and E-Mail Address is needed)
-Search for items using any of the pre-defined fields (price should be a range and location should allow searching on UK postcode or town name within X miles), recently added/listed and "classifications" (for each classification you can set the importance between 1 and 5; an algorithm of sorts will then be used to score and order results)
When logged in;
-Save/load a search
-View your own search history
-Configuration can probably through a simple configuration file, I don't think a portal is necessary for phase 1
-Wordage (i.e. the definition of an item as a "Car" or "Hotel")
-"Classifications" (price, location, has hot-tub, has spa etc). It should be possible to group/categorise these and set some as "always visible" and others as "advanced" (advanced classifications will not be shown on the search forms by default, a button will be clicked to expand and show all classifications)
-Mark agents as "approved" (items they list/modify will be instantly publicly visible). "Non-approved" agents can list items but they will need to be approved by an administrator
-View items and statistics (number of times "item" has been returned by a search, number of times "item" has been clicked and number of times each image has been viewed). The agent will be selected in order to list items.
-View public search history
-Homepage will have search at the top then show recently added items below
Work should initially be focused on the functional requirements, the cosmetics will be further toward the end of the project.
I am really keen to get this project moving ASAP and would like to have a basic working proof of concept before the end of the week.
If an engine/template like this already exists please let me know, the project can be based on adapting the existing solution to meet my requirements.
There is definitely scope for further work through additional phases to add functionality etc...
It is important the website/engine is responsive (i.e. works well and adapts to desktop, laptop, tablet, phone etc).
