I would like someone to take my site, [url removed, login to view], and build in search functionality for the home page in which visitors can select categories that will pull up results from a database (also needed). Right now, visitors have to scroll down each page to find programs in alphabetical order. I want visitors to be able to click on the type of programs they want (e.g., housing, healthcare, finances, career, college, etc.) and the location they want (e.g., national, Alabama, Minnesota, Wyoming, etc.), as well as whether they also want research or online communities.
Then, the results (from my collection of resources on the site) would display for them, including the name of the program (with a link to the website), a brief description, and the specific categories that the program meets from the search criteria chosen.
I would be able to do the data entry of the resources on the site in whatever database is created for the search functionality to work. I would want the updates to be hidden until all the resources are put in the database and tagged appropriately. Then, we would launch with a big announcement beforehand. Both the "scrolling" pages and the new Home Page would co-exist for about a month or two, and then I would take the "scrolling" pages down.
In summary, this project will entail the development of the database and the design of the new Home page with the search functionality, as well as the format for the display of search results. I would like to have the new search functionality launched on the website by February 28, 2017.
