We are looking to completely redesign [url removed, login to view] using Wordpress as the platform. Please review this list of requirements:
• This site will be a blog site, where the articles will be grouped into “issues†which mimic the print version of the newspaper he prints.
• Non-logged-in users can view the excerpts of the articles for the current month’s issue, but will be prompted to login or to register if they try to read an article.
• Non-logged-in users can view the titles of the articles for previous months (with no excerpts), but will be prompted to login or to register if they try to read an article.
• Even if a user is logged in, the archives for previous months will only show the title of the articles, not the excerpts. The only entries that get excerpts are the current month’s articles and the “free†articles (see below).
• When he creates a new issue, the articles for that issue will display on the home page, and the previous issue show up on the archive page automatically when the new issue is “published.â€
• The articles for the issues will all be behind a pay-wall; subscribers have to pay a yearly charge to be able to read the articles, using s2Member ([url removed, login to view]) as the plugin that generates the paywall.
• When a person pays for membership, they are able to read all the articles, not just the ones dated from their subscription date forward.
• There are eight price points - one- and two-year price plans for current subscribers, and one- and two-year price plans for brand new members. With each of these four, there will be a discount if the user elects to read articles online only, and not receive the print version of the newspaper.
• Each one of the eight price points gives a user the same level of access, so there is only “level†of membership.
• When the subscription expires, the user will no longer be able to access the articles until he or she renews.
• Subscription options will include a “renewal†option. A login is required however to complete a new or renewing subscription on line.
• Because users can also subscribe to the print version via snail mail, sometimes people who don’t have accounts (but are paid up) want to be able to access the articles. Users should be able to send their information to the client for him to manually create an account for them.
• Payments for subscriptions will be handled by the client’s existing PayPal account.
• The client wants to offer free articles to users as well, so that a user does not have to be logged in to view them. He puts these articles in his sidebar.
• All articles, including the free articles, must have the ability to have multiple pictures, and the pictures must be able to have captions, including in the view of the excerpt.
• He wants to be able to integrate his existing Google Analytics account into the site.
• He wants to be able to integrate his existing Google AdSense account into the sidebar and into the site.
• There will be a link to his existing vBulletin forum. Nothing needs to be done to the forum at this time.
• The styling of the new site should remain consistent with the current site. We found that [url removed, login to view] with the blue/black skin looks very similar, so we’ve purchased that template and applied it.
• From an administrative standpoint, we would need the following:
• His current articles would need to be imported into the new site, using a CSV file which I will provide.
• The list of current customers, including their subscription end date, would have to be imported into the new site’s paywall plugin, using a CSV file which I will provide.
Please review the client's current site, [url removed, login to view], to get a feel for what we're asking for, and for what kind of content is currently present on the site which would need to be brought over.
