Wanting to be able to Duplicate Wordpress Sites I have already built.
I create/start a few website a month. In most all cases they are Wordpress websites with all the same general setting, pluggins, ect… I have been attempting to with some success copy the settings from one site to another to save time, cause it’s not fun.
I would like you to create a easier way for me to do this. My duplication method takes even more time than I want to spend. What I want.
[url removed, login to view] has all the settings, themes, privacy settings, permalink changes, pluggins, footer and header information, pinglist, ect. The same stuff I use on just about every site I start. Everything really. I would also like it to duplicate comments, pages, posts, tags, and categories. I could back up current sites that way.
I purchase [url removed, login to view], I want all those settings so I can just start creating content. I click a button, and all the settings from [url removed, login to view] go to www.siteB.com. I can change the things I want, like I may upload a new theme, but besides that, am writing content. I would also like it to remember that duplicated site, so later I could install it on site C, D, E, F, ect…
I also might have a master list of sites, maybe 100+ that I use as my master sites to duplicate off of.
As you know, for a fast install of wordpress, fantasico builds the databases and all that for you. If you just copy from one site to another, you would be copying database’s build for [url removed, login to view] instead of SiteB.com. So If I have to go to my cpanel and install with fantastico, that’s fine. But I want to keep it real simple.
I have seen it done kind of like this, but I think it’s to involved for my liking.
- Open ftp and login to [url removed, login to view], locate wordpress install
- Move a .php file into the wordpress section of the site. This will allow you to download “copy”
- Go to [url removed, login to view] and click to duplicate the site, click download to download duplicated file
- Go to [url removed, login to view] install wordpress via Fantasico like normal.
- Go to FTP and login to [url removed, login to view] and upload the duplicated file to the folder or root where you installed wordpress using fantasico.
Boom, your duplicated site is up. After install I would like to delete or remove the duplicated files so it’s not easy to hack or copy the site and all it’s content.
I would also like all licenses for this application.
Please respond with some sort of knowledge involved in carry out this project. Simple, "I can do this jobs", will not be looked at. Thanks
