XML to Windows XP MCE (Media Centre Edition) 2005
Windows Media Centre 2005 has a built in Electronic Program Guide (EPG) that allows you to browse tv program listings for all your channels.
Currenly microsoft only make the EPG data available for certain countries.
We would like a custom application that will enable non-supported countries to have access to an Electronic Program Guide.
Data for most channels/countries is currently available via xml from a variety of online sources, we'd like to be able to take that data and import it into MCE's EPG.
The program should:
Programme should come with an installer.
Enable the EPG (by default the EPG is not visible for unsupported countries).
Read in the existing Channel information from MCE (from the registry)
Allow for the updating of this information and subsequent export back into MCE
e.g. Name, Channel Number, Frequency
Allow a url for an xml feed to be associated with each channel.
Get data from xml feed
encode data into MCE's xml format
export data into MCE.
Program should be easy to setup/use for non-technical users.
Program should be eaily run as a scheduled task for updating guide data.
Update guide should be available from within the MCE interface.
Backup/Import Once a user has the program configured for their particular channels, it should be possible to save this as a config file.
Users should be able to load configuration settings from a previous backup, this would enable users to make config files available for other users in their area.
Program should require a license key prior to activation
program should interrogate a web server for authorisation prior to acvtivation
