We require a Windows XP Boot Screen Editor to be developed.
Before you think this is too hard, a full detailed tutorial is available at <[login to view URL]>
All the information you need is in this tutorial. The only difficult task in this project is to convert the images to a BMP of 640 X 480 X 16 colours (4 Bit).
The boot screen editor must be written in Visual Basic and must have the following functions:
1) Must be able to backup an restore the kernel file to and from a .BAK file (Just a simple copy and rename will do).
2) The user must be able to open any standard image type including BMP, JPG, GIF. With any image size and colour settings.
3) The user will be able to open an image for the background, overlays and progress bar. See the tutorial for details.
4) The application will automatically convert images to the correct resolution as stated above as it loads and display the bitmap on the screen in that resolution.
5) Ability to modify the 16 colour pallet from the RGB rage. When the colour is changed, this change will need to be reflected in the images loaded.
6) The application will automatically save the resoure changes to the kernel as they are made. We have a VB6 function for this.
7) The user must be able to hide the progress bar and overlays.
8) The user must be able to move the progress bar within the screen. If possible we would like the overlays to move , and if it is possible we would like this option. If not possible then that is ok too.
9) The client will have an option to select the version of Windows XP, including Home, Professional and Embedded.
I have written a simple VB example of what it may look like. This is only an example with no functionality that I will give out upon request.
