I am starting a news aggregator and what it to have a very similar look, layout, and fill to HuffingtonPost.com. I want to easily be able to post articles and maintain this website from an administrator friendly backend control panel (I have easily used wordpress and [url removed, login to view] in the past, but I am not limited to those).
You are just creating the "shell" of the website, not the content- it won't need as many tabs. My aggregator is issue/community specific, so it will be significantly smaller/simpler than Huffingtonpost. There will only be one edition. I should be able to easily customize and update the website once received.
I want this website to come with an automatic (ie Google) translate option for at least Spanish and Korean- allowing Spanish and Korean speaking users to seamlessly utilize the website. I have done this in a wordpress site before and know that it is simple to do- does not necessitate building duplicate websites.
I want the website to come with [url removed, login to view] installed as the commenting/social media system. That is preferable, but let me know if you have another suggestion. I want it to be simple for users to comment and share. I will have some friends blogging original content who will need "accounts" that I can enable and possibly moderate, so while this function needs to be there, this will just be a handful of people at first, and will never be an open to the public blogging/posting site. Most blog posts will always be aggregated.
It would be nice if the website backend facilitated aggregating and customizing and posting. I will mainly be using google alerts, rss, twitter hashtags, etc to aggregate the blogs/news articles. But any tools or appearance features that would make this manual process easier would be appreciated.
I want the website to come with an rss feed and twitter feed and a subscription (email newsletter) feature and an embedded facebook like box. It should also have a search feature and a favicon.
Huffingtonpost has a lot of features, but I am not asking for the content, just the "shell." So I want to know before I select your bid what the backend will be and on the frontend, an itemized list of what huffingtonpost features you will mimic- most popular, featured blog posts, featured bloggers, etc.
I do not want random content as place holders. If it would help, I can forward you a collection of appropriate online articles to fill the space correctly in the meantime. I won't have time to start updating it until June.
Contact me if you have any questions. Bidders with similar work in their portfolio will be preferred.
